Subject: Libpng and wv on Mac OS X

I been building the stuff I need to build Abiword on Mac OS X
I have download and installed libpng 1.2 from sourceforge like BUILD.txt says
and also have libpng in the abiword folder with wv,expat etc, etc.
But when I ./configure wv, it says that libpng is missing and libpng is
important.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to get an older version of libpng?
Do I need zlib to get libpng to work?
If should I use zlib from the abiword CVS or use the normal zlib?
