We are working on a tried-and-true win32 build, definitely on the
plate for 2.8 (possibly even both, mingw and visual studio support).
Preliminary instructions can be found at [1], don't let yourself be
scared by "crosscompiling" in the title, the regular win32 build works
pretty much the same, but who am I telling.
