Sure, sorry for that.
Introduction: it seems LyX developers have added some support for
enchant but are nonplussed at some missing features - "Currently
I don't know of a usable pan-spellchecker-engine." They cite
missing "language variety support", something which I was not
able to solicit a clearer explanation for but which may be somehow
related to en_GB en_US style locale specification, or to the
identification of parts of a document as being written in a certain
language whilst others are written in a second. (I suppose that
you are better equipped to guess at their intended meaning...)
Please confirm that enchant does work on OSX.
Is there any support or plan to support any of the following?
- grammar checking
- language detection
- support for spell checking with multiple simultaneous dictionaries
and/or multiple dictionary emulation for backends without this
- expose an API for multiple dictionary management, ie: so that
applications integrating with enchant are able to allow users to
add and remove words in multiple personal dictionaries, for
example "History Dictionary", "Computer Science Dictionary".
- the ability to identify which dictionary a given word comes from
Thanks.
