ABW import regression

Hi,

We got this bug file that show a huge regression:

Simon pinpointed the regression to revision 29670 that seems to have no
rationale. We agree that this should be reverted. Before doing so I'd
like to make sure that we are not missing something. If someone has an
idea of why it has been done.

The commit log is as follow:

    Filter out CR/LFs when reading document text from XML file.

I have attached the reversion patch to bugzilla. I'd like to commit it ASAP.
