If it helps, I've been using the dynamic linked tar version at home and
the static version at work -- both on Slackware 7.0 boxes running kernel
2.2.13 without difficulty. The reason I added to this is that a consultant
friend told me today of other "mysterious" seg fault problems using
various applications with the latest versions of Mandrake. It may be that
the problem isn't Abiword, but rather the result of bugs inherent to the
Mandrake distribution???
