You made me try it myself :-) And it does work. I put
DefaultSaveFormat=".rtf" under the _custom_ scheme while Abi was not
running. Opened a new doc. Pressed the 'save' button. It offered to save
it as .rtf.
If you did exactly the above, without result, I'd suggest downloading a
new version of Abi perhaps. Don't know how this worked in older versions.
