Thanks guys. Both of your suggestions were helpful.

I queried for the earlier version of abiword and found
it.

But when I tried to upgrade I was told I was missing
four files or packages:

gal >= .8
gnome-print >=.29
libgal.so.18
libgnomeprint.so.18

I've looked around online, and have found various
versions of these, and have read that they also need
certain packages, that maybe I need to upgrade gnome,
and on and on. So I think I'm going to lay off
upgrading abiword for now.

Thanks nonetheless for your help.
Colin.
