Hi James,
         Our new help files will explain this. Just quickly though, there
are two ways:

1. Position cursor after the list label you'd like to to "promote" to a
deeper nesting level.

1. Me here
2. |

2. Press "TAB", you get:

1. Me Here
   1.1 |

Alternativeley with the "Bullets and Numbering" dialog active (You can
leave this dialog up and keep typing) position the cursor in the list
element you want to promote, select the type of list you want to be
nested, selection "Start new list" then press "apply".
