Subject: abiword and locale on linux

Hi,
I'm running Mandrake 7.2. I installed the latest version of AbiWord (.9.2
static) from a tar file. The installation succeeded but when I try to run it
I get the following GDK error:
locale not supported by C library
Nothing happens after that. When I check the processes with top I see that
AbiWord_s is running and consuming over 90% of the CPU. The app never comes
up. I've tried various command line options but the results are always the
same. I have been using AbiWord 0.7 without any problems for several months.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
