MacOS X fonts are already .ttf
Apple X11 can use MacOS X fonts, so fontconfig should be able to do
so. I never installed fontconfig on MacOS X, so I don't really know
(and fink packagers don't want because Apple X11 is XFree 4.2 while
    4.3 integrates fontconfig).
