I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but if it's within your competence to
write out a long treatise on a mailing list, it's _well_ within your
competence to file a bug report - especially with GNOME's customized,
drop-dead simple bugzilla ( http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ ). Any developer
who reads this may or may not be surprised, and may welcome that change,
but will have _no feasible way_ of tracking it without a bug report, and
if it's not important enough to the user to file a report, perhaps it's
not important enough overall to be worth the developer's time (in his or
her mind).

Please file bugs. Infinite messages to user mailing lists will simply
stir up ruckus over easily-solved issues.
