It's there, but it doesn't get flagged as an error. I had
gtkmathview-0.7.4, so mathview-frontend-libxml2 wasn't found. Instead
of printing a result, confgure just proceeded to the next check.

   configure:23389: checking for mathview-frontend-libxml2 >= 0.7.5
   configure:23452: checking for hash_map

I did not find a file named gtkmathview-0.7.5 but I found
gtkmathview-latest, and when I untarred it, I found that it is indeed
0.7.5.
That fixed the problem.

The gda plugin also fails, but maybe it doesn't work with libgda-1.3.91
yet.
