I reread your original question and I'm wondering if I misunderstood
you. Are you asking solely about the grayed controls in Tools >
Preferences? Or does spell-checking not work at all? If you're only
asking about the options, they're permanently disabled and have
actually been removed in the development version (which will become
2.5.0). If spell-checking doesn't work at all, a few pieces of
information would help:
1) How did you install the dictionary (the main installer? the separate
dictionary installer?)?
2) In Tools > Set Language, is there an ABC icon next to any language?
3) Which language code is displayed in the status bar upon starting
AbiWord (in the bottom right corner)?
Thanks.
