hello,
Just put

A = \left[ \array{ 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1} \right]

and you will have a nice 3x3 identity matrix. Moreover, as I understood
Abiword uses "itex" which is a dialect of "Latex".
What could you do or could not in Abiword, I realy do not know. The help
coud be found on the internet (itex, itex2MML).
As far as I know there is no official documentation yet about Equation
editing in Abiword. It will be, but we have to be patient.
I feel that Abiword uses some restricted version of "itex" (in this
release). For instance, I could not manage (Windows version) to get
to the scond row of the "Latex equation" dialog box. I could only insert
equations in one single row.
Furthermore, I can not figure it out how Insert=>Equation=>From file...
works. I tried different MathML files, even itex equation from file but
no success. Could someone, please just give me a hint how does it work

Regards
