For accessibility reasons using colour as an indicator like this is wrong
and shouldn't have been done but it is better than nothing.

In my opinion Overwrite mode should be disabled by default and for those
who do use it there should be some way to reenable it. The only question
is how best to go about doing it? (Whoever implements will probably get
to decide anyway.)
