Characters spacing with Abiword 2.2.7 and Gnome 2

Hi
I use Linux (kernel 2.6.12) - Debian 3.1r1 and Gnome 2.8.
Documents made in Abiword 2.2.7 are dumpy: in print preview and once printed, the space between characters is not balanced:
spaces after c, s, t, é (I'm french) are a little too bigs and words seem fragmented.
I have this with Times new roman, Free serif, Byte stream...

On the screen in normal or print layout, the spaces are regular and I wish I could print this formating.

I wonder if the version of libgnomeprint & co (=2.2-0) could be the origin of this, since I had other problems in printing left+right justified documents with earlier version.

Thanks for any suggestion to cure this. Although readables, my letters are not nice for the moment.
