File, Save As, Microsoft Word (.doc)

Yes it does. Rich Text Format (RTF) is a fully compatible Microsoft Word
format and some Microsoft products have in the past done exactly what
abiword does now and that is to output Rich Text with the either file
extensions .doc or .rtf. (There are more .doc related messing people have
done over the years but I wont go into but the .doc extension isn't as
meaningful as you might assume.)
