Spreadsheet and printing

I'm sorry if this is an elementary question, but I have been trying for
months to do something that I think must be very simple, but with very
little luck.

I gave up on Open Office and after using gnumeric I managed to compile a
spreadsheet containing all that I need for an address book. Then I
wanted to add a second list and have everything sorted alphabetically.
Nothing seems to work, unless I copy each line and insert it in the
proper place. If I try to transfer every line of the second list, it
simply copies it, replacing the first one.

This may be a matter for gnumeric alone, and if so I apologise. The
second problem is that I then wanted to transfer much of the data to a
sheet which I could use for printing. I managed to get the information
into Abiword, but only by taking one line at a time and then rearranging
the information, since it appeared in an odd form.

Third, having done that I should like to organise a page-setup so that I
can print onto a filofax-size page. I have tried any number of methods,
but I am stymied.

I will be grateful for any help.
