Thank you Ryan. I've looked in that dialogue, and I see where you can
change the type from "Bullet" to "Numbers," and within those you can
choose type of bullet, and type of number. What I don't see is how to
alter the sub lists. For example, in Word you can pick the hierarchy
of your numbered lists to go I, A, 1, a, etc. So your first list item
is a I, the next level down it's A, the next level is 1, etc. Can I
do that in Abiword? Also, I saw no dialogue box to alter the indent
properties of sublists. It looks like I can change the text and label
align, but that seems to affect only the first level of
bullets/numbers. How do I get to the specific sub level that I need to alter?

And finally, thanks for the info about the grey boxes. Is there a way
to not display them onscreen? Usually my document is read onscreen,
so it would be cool if they didn't display onscreen either.

thanks for all your help,

-Emery
