Hi Tom,
It looks like MacPorts has built a Gnome version of abiword but has
not implemented all the runtime expectations of a Gnome enabled
application.
Send a bug message to MacPorts and ask them to fix this. (Either do
not include the gnome stuff or build without the Gnome dependencies.)
