I'm pretty sure that if you go to "save as" in a normal Windows version
of AbiWord, the standard format is listed as .abw .abw.gz and .abw.bz2
so that if you type one of those extensions it will save in that format.
The plugin was removed because it's built into libgsf, and I can
guarantee that I at least needed bzip2 when compiling the version of
AbiWord you are using :) So opening should at least work.
