Using Abiword with a screenreader

Hi there,

Lately, I tried Abiword and I was positively surprised. I prefer it to
microsoft Word and Open Office, and it works great except for one problem:

since I'm blind, my successful work depends on the cooperation of a
screenreader and the working program. I use Jaws and nvda as
screenreader and they are not able to find the cursor in an opened
document. I found a thread about this topic, where the problem is
explained as bug 3124:

My question: is there already a possibility to elude this bug?
