It is possible to customize the behavior of AbiWord. This is done by changing the content of your personal profile file.

Contents

Profile Locations

Only make changes to a profile if AbiWord is not running. It only reads it at startup and will rewrite it upon exit.

System Profiles

Windows: These are located in the install folder for AbiWord in a folder called Profiles. It is not recommended that these be changed. They are used to provide site wide changes from the default behaviors. There are many profiles for different languages and other items.

Unix: /usr/share/abiword-2.6/system.profile

Windows Profile

It is called AbiWord.Profile.

  • Windows 2000, Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ _Your User Name_ \AbiSuite or whichever disk contains your home folder.
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7: C:\Users\ _Your User Name_ \AbiSuite by default

Unix

located in your home folder (directory) at ~/.AbiSuite/AbiWord.Profile (a hidden folder)

Mac OS X

at ~/Library/Application Support/Abisuite/

AbiCollab

This file, AbiCollab.Profile is is located in the same folder as the standard AbiWord file.
