HI Dan,
The AbiCollab plugin provides the framework for a cross platform
method of performing automated regression tests. In fact there was code
to save changes to file which could be replayed later until it got
removed for cluttering up the UI. It would quite easy to build up a set
of regression tests with this to exercise AbiWord.

There is also a more general solution for all gtk-based programs called
dogtail which uses the accessibility framework built into gtk to drive
applications.

I haven't investigated this program but it looks like it has potential.

See:

Let us know if either approach appeals to you. In either case your help
would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Martin
