As Steve Anderson reported, in AbiWord 1.0.4 and later versions,
you can enter the Danish accented characters æøåÆØÅ by holding
down Alt while you type four digits on the numeric keypad
(not the main keyboard), then releasing Alt. The four digits are:

    æ 0230
    ø 0248
    å 0229
    Æ 0198
    Ø 0216
    Å 0197

    More details at http://wp.netscape.com/eng/intl/accentinput.html

Displaying Danish seems to not require a new font.
I copied the following from http://www.danmark.dk/

Started AbiWord 1.05 with da-DK dictionary installed.
    Tools - Language - Danish.
    Paste.
Danish text appears OK, only four words have red squiggle.

By the way, the language-country code combination does not actually
appear in the AbiWord 1.0.5 status bar - it does appear in the
1.9.0 status bar, but I don't recommend you use that version unless
you want to help us find bugs.

    Cheers - Stephen.
