What exactly are those extra charaters?
Those characters might not be ASCII anymore and they may be exposing a
problem in detecting exactly what kind of 'plain text' is being imported.
Funny thing about 'plain text' is that it isn't all that plain.
Please attach a sample file to a report in bugzilla so that we can try and
more accurately identify the problem. http://bugizlla.abisource.com
