First off before you go creating hashfiles you should be able to dump a
word list into the Dictionary file called custom.dic

If you look way back into the mailing list archives (probably 2001) you
might find information about the ispell hash files being limited to
certain specific byte values. (Anyone else vaguely remember this?)

It might be a easier to use a different dictionary type supported by
Enchant (or maybe not).
