Not wishing to laud one version of linux over another, but if you
install Debian instead of Redhat, you will find that a lot of the
dependency problems will go away.
Dependencies with Debian are taken care of by the package management
system that is more sophisticated than anything else on offer.
You can burn the discs for nothing off the Debian site, but I would
recommend doing a base install, and finishing off with the net install
option.
Once you are more familiar with things, by all means, switch back if you
want to.
