Install the ttf version of the Computer Modern fonts.
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/fonts/
It has instructions on how to install the fonts needs to display MathML
in Mozilla - which also should work for MathML in AbiWord.
Are you on Linux? If so, then your distribution *might* already have a
package for the needed fonts.
The main fonts you need are the Computer Modern fonts.
I suspect that will cover just about every symbol MathML wants.
That may be enough. If you still don't get proper display - try adding
the Mathematica 4.1 fonts (if on linux, get the .exe for windows - it's
really just a .zip archive) and adding the mtextra.ttf font from the
mathtype fonts (it's also a windows installer - but you can extract it
using cabextract)
