Yes, I use TeX all the time. I have a friend who had an MSWord
file. He wanted a hyperlink to site "x" that really went to site
"y." I did all that in Abiword by saving the file as LaTeX and
then using pdflatex to generate the pdf file. That pdf works on
my system (Linux) but not on his (Mac of some variety.)

Now that is confusing.
