Only able to direct you to the FAQ, if that doesn't work not sure what
else to do. I did try messing around manually editing the Normal.awt but
it didn't work for me in my few quick attempts but perhaps someone else
might explain whatever trick we are missing.

It might also help to know the reason you are trying to do this (it would
surpise me if you really wanted to write an entire document in bold face).
If for example it is perhaps because you find the default font sizes too
small and hard to read it might be an Accessibility problem which could be
better solved in another way.

I'm surprised you knew enough of the possibility to ask the question but
it is an ancient legacy thing (from Word Perfect I suspect).

There have been various suggestions about how we might avoid that
nuisance, and offering to remap the Insert key to Paste would certainly be
one way to at least hide the problem.
